Summary
In August 1918 two suspected members of the Social Revolutionary Party shot Vladimir Lenin in an attempted assassination. Although Lenin survived, his life was probably shortened due to the injuries he sustained. The ruthless 1917 Bolshevik Revolution resulted in Lenin's dictatorial rule over the USSR; no tolerance was given to opposition, and Social Revolutionaries were mass-murdered
